How to Create a Filter on Comps

Refer to findings from the following pages for thorough accessibility information and recommendations about this comp:

  1. Open up the comp file in Photoshop
  2. Add a new layer (for the filter)
  3. Select the whole canvas on the new layer (cmd+a)
  4. Bring up the Fill Dialog (Edit > Fill...)
  5. select "pattern" from the "Use" drop down menu
  6. choose a custom pattern that fits (you should have a few similar to this one "Gauze")
  7. leave blending mode as normal
  8. set the transparent (opacity) to 30%
  9. click ok
  10. And.... ta-dah! That should cover the whole canvas with your filter.

Now select the parts you want to reveal and delete these parts to display the comp underneath.

Rinse and repeat for the other comps.
Note: Many comp files delivered by clients are HUGE. Adding the gauze filter makes them even LARGER. So, do consider minimizing the comp file size after applying the gauze filter. Otherwise this deliverable may be too big to zip and give to a client.
